Te Wai Aio Papakaainga

Te Wai Aio Trust are a whaanau-based organisation with the mission to support whaanau into homes where they can thrive. A recently established Trust, their first project is a papakaainga of three whare, where whaanau who wish to connect to their whenua tuupuna can now access homes near their Marae, paa kaainga, and hapuu.

With the support of their Te Ahiwaru Trust, Te Puni Kōkiri, and MHUD, Te Wai Aio Trust now has the capacity to actualise their mission, and also the kaainga aspirations of the three whaanau who will return to their whenua tuupuna.

The papakaainga is currently in construction, with a projected completion date in June 2026.
