Siumu Fale

Located on the coastal ridgeline of Siumu, this 60sqm fale is designed for a small family and reimagines Samoan vernacular architecture through a contemporary lens. The fale opens generously to sweeping ocean and sunset views, prioritising indoor–outdoor living, natural ventilation and an intimate relationship with the landscape. The design explores a modest and adaptable construction system, demonstrating that high-quality housing in Samoa can be delivered affordably without compromising building performance, climate resilience, or the richness of everyday living.

The project serves as a prototype for accessible, culturally grounded development across Samoa, offering a refined yet humble approach that honours place, family and tradition. Construction is underway for this prototype, with practical completion scheduled in February 2026.
